Mishnah Pesahim 10:4
The second cup of wine is poured, and the child asks the parent. If the child does not have the capacity to ask, the parent teaches: “Why is this night different from all other nights? . . .” And according to the understanding of the child, the parent teaches, starting [the story] with ignomy and concluding with praise, explaining the passage that begins, “An Aramean sought to cause my father to perish,” (Deut. 26:5), until the end of that section.
