| Rabbi Yohanan said in the name of Rabbi Yossi: from where do we know that the Holy Blessed One prays? As Scripture says: 鈥淚 will bring them to my sacred mountain and let them rejoice in [literally] the house of My prayer . . .鈥� (Isaiah 56:7). It doesn鈥檛 say 鈥渢he house of their prayer鈥�, rather, 鈥渢he house of My prayer鈥�, to teach us that the Holy Blessed One prays.
What does God pray? Mar Zutra bar Tuvia says in the name of Rav: 鈥淢ay it be My will that My mercy overcome My anger; My mercy dominate amongst My attributes; I act toward my children with the attribute of mercy; and I go beyond the strictures of the law for their sake.鈥� (Yalkut Shimoni, Isaiah, 485) |
